{"id":831,"date":"2013-11-29T15:22:05","date_gmt":"2013-11-29T15:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cdblog.cdstealer.com\/?p=831"},"modified":"2017-02-05T11:20:17","modified_gmt":"2017-02-05T11:20:17","slug":"amazing-pecan-pie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cdblog.cdstealer.com\/?p=831","title":{"rendered":"Amazing Vegan Pecan Pie"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"row-4-1\">\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Filling<br \/>\n<\/strong>8 oz (240g) raw sugar<br \/>\n8 oz (240g) brown sugar<br \/>\n2oz (60g) Plain flour<br \/>\n8 tablespoons nondairy milk (I use soy unsweetened)<br \/>\n2 egg substitutes (I use Orgran)<br \/>\n8 oz (240g) vegan butter, melted (Pure Soy Spread)<br \/>\n2 teaspoon vanilla extract<br \/>\n16 oz (480g) pecans<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Pastry<br \/>\n<\/strong>16 oz (480g) plain flour<br \/>\npinch of salt<br \/>\n8 oz (240g) vegan margarine<br \/>\n4 tablespoons cold water<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation method (pastry)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Place the salt and flour into the processor.<br \/>\nAdd the margarine when the processor is on a low speed, in small pieces.<br \/>\nKeep the processor on medium and add the water. Increase the processor gradually until all the ingredients combine.<br \/>\nStop when the pastry forms a ball.<br \/>\nKnead lightly to form a ball. Cover in clingfilm and refridgerate until needed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Non processor method<\/strong><br \/>\nPlace the flour and salt in a bowl.<br \/>\nAdd the margarine and rub in lightly with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.<br \/>\nSprinkle over the water and mix, using a round-bladed knife, until the mixture begins to bind together and form a dough.<br \/>\nKnead together very lightly and use as required.<\/p>\n<p>Prick the pastry base several times with a fork, line with foil and fill with baking beans, rice or dried pulses. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and beans and bake for another 6 minutes until golden.<\/p>\n<p>For me, the pastry shrank ~1cm from the edge of the flan dish.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"row-4-2\">\n<p><strong>Preparation method (filling)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Mix all the ingredients together lightly with a whisk just to break up any lumps and pour into the pastry case. \u00a0Add a few halves on top towards the end of the cooking (last 5 mins). \u00a0Me being a bloke, just chucked them all in :)<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>1. Preheat oven to 375F\/190C. Mix ingredients. They come out watery.<br \/>\n2. Pour into the pie shell. Place on a cookie sheet and put into the oven for 20 minutes.<br \/>\n3. Reduce oven temperature to 275F\/135C. Bake for 20 minutes or longer.<br \/>\n4.
