I've not seen this anywhere on t'interweb so this is what I have done so far which seems to work.<\/p>\n

Only for arch x86 & amd64.<\/p>\n

Tools & Files.<\/h3>\n

Syslinux<\/a> Version 3.86 at the time of writing this.<\/p>\n

Grub (more commonly used)<\/p>\n

Gentoo (amd64<\/a>, x86<\/a>) You'll need the iso files.
\nStage3 and portage archives are optional, but handy to get the install started.<\/p>\n

Prep.<\/h3>\n

Create a folder somewhere.\u00a0 This will be the root of the DVD<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n

ISOLINUX METHOD<\/strong><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

Unpack the syslinux archive.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

cd in the syslinux directory and run \"make\".<\/span><\/p>\n

cd back into the root of the DVD directory.<\/span><\/p>\n

mkdir -p boot\/isolinux<\/span><\/p>\n

cp syslinux\/com32\/menu\/vesamenu.c32 boot\/isolinux (needed for boot menu)
\ncp syslinux\/core\/isolinux.bin boot\/isolinux (needed to boot)<\/span><\/p>\n

create isolinux.cfg<\/a> in boot\/isolinux (needed for boot menu)
\nput a 640x480 png image in boot\/isolinux (optional background<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
\n

GRUB METHOD<\/strong><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/h3>\n

mkdir -p boot\/grub<\/span><\/p>\n

cp \/boot\/grub\/stage2.eltorito boot\/grub (needed boot image)
\ncp \/boot\/grub\/splash.xpm.gz boot\/grub (optional background picture)<\/span><\/p>\n

create menu.lst<\/a> in boot\/grub (needed for boot menu)<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

put the stage and portage archives in the root folder of your CD. (optional)<\/p>\n

touch livecd in the root folder of your CD. (needed for livecd to load)<\/p>\n

mount each iso and copy the gentoo.efimg and image.squashfs files into the root folder of your CD.\u00a0 (contains the gentoo environment)
\nI found here that you will need to rename the files.\u00a0 I just replaced \"gentoo\" & \"image\" with the arch.
\nie x86.efimg & amd64.efimg etc
\ncopy the gentoo.efimg.mountPoint directory into the root folder of your CD.\u00a0 (contains the kernel and initrd)
\nAgain replacing the \"gentoo\" with the arch.<\/p>\n

Create the ISO.<\/h3>\n

cd outside of the root of your CD folder and run<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n

ISOLINUX METHOD<\/span><\/h3>\n

mkisofs -N -V gentoo -b boot\/isolinux\/isolinux.bin -d -iso-level 4 -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table -o Gentoo.iso gentoo-multiboot<\/p>\n

(the isolinux.bin is in your CD root.\u00a0 the gentoo-multiboot is the name of the root of your CD<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

GRUB METHOD<\/span><\/h3>\n

mkisofs -R -b boot\/grub\/stage2_eltorito -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table -o Gentoo.iso gentoo-multiboot<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Testing.<\/h3>\n

I have qemu installed but any VM will do.<\/p>\n

qemu -k en-gb -enable-kvm -m 1024 -cpu qemu32 -cdrom gentoo.iso -boot d<\/p>\n

note: Add \"-vnc :0.0\" if qemu is on a remote server.\u00a0 The just vnc to it :)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
